What's your barnacle?

  For this post, we are supposed to reflect on backwards design. I think it's a really interesting concept, and I like learning more about it. I feel like at first it might be hard to write a lesson plan like this, since I have written so many front to back, as opposed to back to front. It'll be interesting for me to see how I go about doing that. I like the part in the video where it talked about starting small, before going full force. I like that idea;

Thinking big, starting small, and having a team!

   It's important to remember this phrase when doing backwards design. I think it's a key to success when it comes to this concept. This isn't an easy thing to start doing, so having a plan in place will help ensure that the lessons get done the right way. These are the couple of things that have stuck out to me so far about this way of planning, hopefully my knowledge of it will grow and expand with more classes.

  1. I could not agree more with wanting to learn more about this. I think my favorite part was that the guys said you wouldn't get this the first time you tried and that you need to start small and with something you enjoy doing.

  2. I am not completely familiar with writing lesson plans in general. I have only wrote a few. So, for me to be told; o.k. you're going to write the lesson plan backwards, this seems even more confusing. I think I finally have it mostly figured out, I just feel like maybe there is a different way that I might write lesson plans better. I think I will feel more confident when Mrs. Steffes has looked at a few of mine. I like the ideas you listed about "thinking big, starting small, and having a team". I really would like to have a team in all of this, lol. Starting small is definitely more like it for me. Thank you for posting.

  3. First, I am in complete admiration of your blog design. Second, the backward design becomes so ingrained that you will not be able to do it any other way!
